West Seattle Thriftway has been family owned and locally operated since 1988. We appreciate our customers and know that without them we wouldn't be where we are today. You have allowed us to become more than just a grocery store - over the past 25 years we have grown to be a part of something great, your community.
Supporting our local schools and non-profit organizations create strong relationships with our surrounding neighborhood which is the backbone to any successful community. Learn about some of our programs below.

Bag Local Hunger
Helping local families in need.
Thriftway and Red Apple stores have teamed up with one of Washington State's largest providers of food for the hungry, Northwest Harvest, creating a new program called "Bag Local Hunger".
Last year Northwest Harvest distributed more than 26 million pounds of food, setting a distribution record and allowing them serve nutritious meals to an unprecedented number of hungry people in Washington. In 2012, Thriftway and Red Apple's combined donations provided 130,017 meals for the hungery.
All of thier food and operating funds come from individuals like you, businesses like us, foundations and other organizations. They work with local food banks all over the state and work directly with families and individuals in need.
Thank you for your support in 2012, we look forward to another successful drive in 2013!
Summer Grilling - Grab Lunch for a good cause!
Every spring we break out the grill on Saturday's through the summer to cook up lunch for a good cause. In 2012 our fundraising bbqs brought in over $8,500 for local organizations and charities like Pencil Me In For Kids, WestSide Baby, West Seattle Helpline and The Seattle Humane Society.

Support your local schools and get involved!
Supporting education in our area is important to us - by partnering with local area schools and participating in their scrip program we have created another way for the community to raise money for their school with no additional cost!
It's simple, here's how it works:
The school purchases scrip in bulk from us at a discounted rate, and sells to parents or members of the community at face value.
Get involved and purchase scrip to pay for your groceries!
Susan G. Komen Fundraiser
Our store, along with other Thriftway's throughout the state of Washington hold a promotional fundraiser to benefit the "Komen for the Cure" Foundation each year. To date as a group we have raised nearly $1 Million for the charity.
Dog Days of Summer Fundraiser
We love our fuzzy, four-legged friends here at Thriftway and we developed this promotional fundraiser to benefit the King County Humane Society for just that reason! It's the funnest promotion of the year filled with events for our pets and the people who love them.
